Al's Cafe served a delicious full English breakfast. If I ever come back to London and find myself in this neighborhood, 100% I'll be back again. Great food, portions, value, and friendly service!

I've lived around the corner in Bermondsey Street for six years and went to Al's Cafe for the first time this week. My partner has been by himself a few times when he says he needs some carbs. On this occasion i decided to go with him and I really enjoyed my veggie breakfast with my fried egg well done as requested. They said we could take our dog inside and gave her a sausage which she ate in a matter of seconds. It's a well executed traditional cafe or greasy spoon serving an array of breakfasts along with sandwiches and jacket potatoes. The service is prompt and super friendly. The interiors are clean and welcoming. On my visit there were a mix of locals, office workers having meetings and tradespeople. It is a great place to enjoy a traditional breakfast which is value for money.

Al’s has a family run feel that is precious amongst the estate agents and mindlessly “posh” pastry places. The team made me feel welcome and served a generous cheese Abbas mushroom omelette with fresh salad and slaw. Thank you folks! To the rest of you, use it or lose it!

A great first taste without the substantial price tag that some English breakfasts can be. Got the speak with the owner who also mentioned everything they make is home made!A great homey vibe!Much love from 2 Aussies

Ok, if you want the traditional London cafes to survive, don’t walk past Al’s for a more costly and pretentious version of brunch, it’s all here. It’s proper British food, with good portions and it’s tasty and filling. The decaf coffee was flavourful and tasted like good coffee :) we will be back again when we visit. It’s cosy and friendly, and it’ll fill you up before a walk along the Thames.

One of the best breakfasts I've ever had, and I've had a good few. Tasted very fresh and was able to swap item that I don't like without an issue. Also I'm a proper TEA snob and I had to have a second cup it was outstanding.

So I'm in London. Staying near London Bridge station. We decide to meet our children and friends at Al's.Two are coming from Borough, two from Canary Wharf and one all the way from Stoke Newington, seven of us in all staying in the cafe for around 90 minutes. As you can imagine we arrive at staggered intervals. As you can also imagine, this might provoke mild annoyance from less welcoming proprietors – not so here!Al's staff could not have been more helpful. We shifted from a table for two to a larger table and although we ordered at three different times it did not put them off their stride at all.We all had some variant on the English breakfast – there are 5 or 6 to choose from – and it was no problem to add or remove items either. The orange juice was fresh and tasty and the breakfast was well presented with excellent bacon and a slice of very tasty sourdough bread. The sausage was my least favourite item but it was at least well cooked and relatively tasty. The black pudding? Lovely! For a small enterprise a little off the beaten track I could not have been better served. Given that my children are in the vicinity I suspect I will become a repeat customer!
